I'm going much simpler than a quad copter - dirigible! The design uses a mylar helium balloon for lift, two small propellers for thrust and directional control, and a lightweight laser-cut project box as a "gondola" to house the electronics. Control will be through either pre-programmed commands, or by wireless smartphone or PC connection.
Right now, it is strictly a line-of-sight proof of concept, using a wireless controller and motors from another Kickstarter project that shipped recently (the PowerUp 3.0). But hopefully, I'll be able to replace that assembly with a Flutter, and gain access to various sensors (GPS, accelerometer, altimeter) and feedback (video or still camera streaming).
